Delhi Zoo Transformation: A World-Class Experience Awaits

The renowned national zoological park in Delhi is about to undergo a significant transformation, drawing inspiration from the cutting-edge ‘vantara’ model of Jamnagar, Gujarat. Founded in 1959, the historic zoo will undergo a transformation through a series of initiatives that involve building state-of-the-art facilities and potentially selling its operations to a private entity.

According to official sources, talks are currently taking place to transfer the management of the zoo to the greens zoological rescue and rehabilitation center in Jamnagar—an organization closely linked to anant ambani’s ambitious Vantara wildlife conservation project. A series of important meetings have been held, bringing together representatives from central ministries, such as the ministry of environment, forest and climate change, and the prime minister’s office.

The proposed revamp entails the establishment of a cutting-edge rescue and rehabilitation center, air-conditioned medical facilities, and expansive natural habitats specifically designed to accommodate injured, endangered, and threatened species. The plans include the construction of climate-controlled underground tunnels for specific species, as well as improvements to facilities for deer, crocodiles, rare birds, and other wildlife.

Authorities think that partnering with a private company or non-profit organization could greatly enhance zoo management and bring innovative conservation techniques to the forefront. Nevertheless, the decision has ignited a heated discussion, with certain groups expressing their disapproval of the privatization of the facility. Dr: Sanjit Kumar confirmed that the existing entrance on Mathura Road will be demolished and reconstructed with modern facilities. These include a cafeteria, ticket counters, cloakroom, clean restrooms, seating areas, and other amenities designed to cater to the needs of tourists.
